Access to Charlotte House is no problem whatsoever. Once guests have booked in, they’re given front door keys. Then they’ve got access to the house any time, day or night. Remember, though, if you do go out, take those keys with you. If I return from shopping, or anything like that, I don’t want to find anyone sitting on the door step, when I get back!
All our rooms have showers and toilet en-suite, colour televisions, hospitality trays, hair dryers and central heating. Also, three of our rooms have been converted into large approx. 17ft x 19ft rooms. One of these large rooms has a beautiful four poster bed perfect for that romantic break. These three large rooms also have silent refrigerators, especially made for bedrooms. They are handy for cooling your milk and those summer drinks, with no noise of a motor to wake you in the middle of the night. All rooms have modern hot and cold running wash basins as well as mirrors and shaving lights. There are also wall lights above each bed. Just right for reading that novel in bed. (The most comfortable place to read a book, if you ask me.) Guests can be assured that there are no undersized beds at Charlotte House. All our beds are fully sized adult double and single beds.
Although all our rooms have showers and toilets en suite, if you prefer a real bath, we do have a proper bathroom, for guests’ use. It’s not used very much these days, because of the en suites. So there’s almost never a queue, or anything like that.
There is an iron and an ironing board available for guests to use, on request.
In the hallway, there is a pay phone for out going calls. It doesn’t ring and therefore won’t take incoming calls. This is a standard BT telephone. You put your money in, and press button ‘A’ when the other person answers. If there’s no answer, you press the refund button. If ordering a taxi from this, or a mobile phone, I would ask you to wait for it on the pavement. Taxis are very efficient in Brighton and will only take about five minutes. If you disappear, I don’t know who the taxi is for, and have to send it away again. If ordered late at night, or early in the morning, I have to go running to the front door in my dressing gown, and I still don’t know who it’s for.... Please!
